IT IS FINISHED!
The title of this article are the last and final words that Jesus spoke from the cross. The Bible says, “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost” (Jn. 19:30). The words translated “It is finished” is tetelestai, which is an accounting term that means “paid in full.” When Jesus uttered these words he was declaring that the debt owed to his father was wiped away completely and forever (GotQuestions). However, Jesus did not owe the debt because he was without sin. The debt that Jesus paid was for the sins of humankind.
